He didn’t call him anything else, he was using “black guy”. That should have been obvious.

      Wasn’t/isn’t WitchBlade a cop?

The original Witchblade was a policewoman when TOP COW first put it out years and years ago.

Then the folks who produced the short-run TV show went with that.

When the GREAT anime version (albeit chock full of fanservice) was put out several years ago, the producers basically started from scratch EXCEPT for the WITCHBLADE artifact itself. I read somewhere that the protagonist of the anime was a cop herself sometime in the ‘past’ before the first episode of the the anime series but I’m not 100% exactly sure about that….

Yeah, and notice that it said, “10 YEARS AGO” on the page before this. ;) It’s definitely Tiger.

It’s the eye of the tiger, its the thrill of the fight, rising up to the challenge of a rival…

Eye of the tiger? Interesting choice of words…

Look at the face of the old man in panel 3 as he’s empowering the lawman. See that white orb just underneath his hat, above his nose, in the center of his forehead? That looks just like a THIRD EYE to me… o_O

      InstantSpinneretteFan said:

Nah, it’s his eybrow. All the third eyes I’ve seen in artworks of some type are higher up on the center of the forehead. Leela from FUTURAMA is a noteworthy exception to that rule.

Seeing the ‘white eye’ effect on the old man here made me think of Storm from the X-MEN comics. In the X-MEN movies the effect was approximated on Halle Berry’s Storm but you can still see her iris behind the white ‘glow’ of her eyes when she is ‘using’ her elemental powers in the movie (yes lots of VFX).

How did he know that his first name was Jeff? All Tiger says is “This is Officer Colemen,” on his radio.

He could have been scouting Coleman for a while as an apprentice/potential replacement. It would explain how the next Tiger was close enough to get to the old man before he, the former Tiger, died.

Either that, or the old man was just working the mystical mojo.
