Geez… So much blabber over Heather’s sexuality. What’s so big deal. If she loves MM then she loves her, nothing strange with it. Bi, gay, hetero – all those classifications are getting annoying; no need to stick some frozen caste walls over people.
First… I’ve never quite bought into Bottom Lefty having an autonomous sentience. I really think it is just a manifestation of Heather’s subconsiousness. So random groping and touching, fine. But does she really expect it to write something coherient? I’d be surprised if that happened. On the other hand, if by chance BL does manage to, say, scribble a big heart with, “Spinny + MM 4ever!” written in it… well, then… I’ll be quite surprised. But happy!
Second… As for what Heather is feeling… My girlfriend wondered if she was just thinking this because when someone has feelings for you, becoming interested in them is an easy (in other words, safe) thing to do. My response to that was that it is someone she, herself, cares about already as a very dear friend. I know friendship does not equal romantic love, but it is an important ingredient in it. (I consider my girlfriend a friend as well as a lover, for example. Heck, it is in the word: girlFRIEND.) And if she is now, in the aftermath of Marilyn’s confession, having a naughty fantasy about her, that shows that she’s subconsiously at least considering what a physical encounter with her might be like… So yes, in a lot of ways, this is all in response to Marilyn’s confession. Before that, Heather (even after Sahira’s suggestion of Marilyn’s feelings) remained blissfully ignorant and was willing to be friends. But now that she’s gotten blunt confirmation that Marilyn loves her, she must be thinking, “This is someone I care very much about… I never liked women before, but what if…?”
If, as I hope happens, Heather ends up deciding she loves Marilyn back, that doesn’t make her suddenly gay. At most it makes her bi. But this whole situation really brings to mind a line of dialogue from the show Torchwood. When the sister of one of the characters discovers her brother is in a relationship with another man, she asks him since when has he been gay? His response: “It’s not men… it’s just Jack.” I get the feeling that if Heather and Marilyn hook up, that’s what this will be. Not about gender… about love. They’d love each other in a way that transends gender; love for who they are, and not what is between their legs.

Why so surprised? Even if BL does write something coherent, all that it may or may not prove is that it’s something that Heather probably isn’t ready to admit to herself yet (throwing your own argument about BL being a manifestation of her subconscious right back at you ).
As far as BL writing coherently is concerned, it is actually not out of the question. There exists a practice in this world in which a person sits down and simply starts writing without thinking about what they are writing or looking down at the page. When they are finished. The page is sometimes filled with truths about themselves and feelings they had that they were only subconsciously aware of. This practice is demonstrated in the movie “the sixth sense”, When Dr. Malcom asks Cole to try this and ends up with a piece of paper covered from top to bottom in insane and angry fantasies involving those around him that don’t understand his condition. And since BL seems to have a direct connection to spinny’s subconscious, it is a logical approach to the situation.

It’s called “Automatic Writing”. And it is a controversial and obscure topic, with not a lot of documentation on it. Some explain it as you suggest, claiming it is purely from the subconscious. But some claim it is a type of “channeling” for spirits, entities, or even past lives.
Considering she is the first known human with six limbs the neural network to her brain must be different. She also may have enlarged ganglia on her spinal cord to aid in control of her extra limbs. Even so this could be possible. At leas in the comic it is.
