New Idea: She has a “A Christmas Carol” style dream with a humanoid version of BL as her guide.
Not sure how the whole thing would go, but just the concept is enough for me.
Does Krazy Krow even have any affiliation with this comic any more? It has someone other than him doing the artwork, and he’s letting horny lesbian obsessed fanboys control the direction of the story. As best I can tell, all he has to do is sit back and send it to the printers.
Last I checked, most pro comic authors hired artists instead of drawing on their own. Something about quality and efficiency or somesuch. Also, it’s not like you paid Krow for this comic, so read&appreciate or leave and don’t bother the readers. If you don’t like this comic, draw your own, or at least make an effort to write and publish an honest review.
And FYI, some people here are not drooling teenage fanboys, thank you very much.
Krow’s been setting this up since Issue 3, so if you didn’t pick up on that then then why are you reading? It’s been hinted since issue 3 that Marilyn was a lesbian, and that’s been fairly obvious since their discussion after beating the demon that she had feelings for Heather. Going by that, this comic has always let “horny lesbian obsessed fanboys control the direction of the story”, as you put it.
Am I the only one who thinks that the bunch of narrative boxes in the previous pages are actually quoted from what BL is going to write? Heather is a weird girl. She may be medium-aware, but I’m pretty sure she’s oblivious to her own thoughts and feelings (the last panel suggests it strongly). I’d go as far as to say, she actively oblivious, trying not to think too hard about it, even as far as ignoring her own ponderings. Might just be my paranoia, though, so don’t treat this idea too seriously.
I would just like to point out that all comics no matter who writes them go throu this I have read almost every type of comic, from marvel to manga, and can say with sertenty this kind of thing is nothing new or disterbing. Not the lesbian thing, but the chericture going through the emotional controvercy thing. If this isnt interesting to you than why are you on the internet reading web comics anyway, this is no different than any other media where ideas are expressed and stories take odd or different turns. So in conclusion “I find your lack of faith disterbing”
You guys really wanna know what BL will write? Well, here goes, I have consulted the Great Mumphert and he said, BL will write: “I has 2 more weeks of fanservice.”
An excellent friend of hers, who is dying by inches, just confessed her love for her, a love she isn’t sure whether she reciprocates or not. The juxtaposition between this heartbreaking inner conflict and the goofy fanservice is confusing and possibly out of place in some peoples opinion.
I’m not ‘raging’, but I can somewhat see their point.
@the occupant: Thank you that answer I can least understand why it may seem confusing. To me it doesn’t seem confusing. Actually it would just seem out of character for Heather to be dark and mopy all the time through this chapter which would throw me off as much as anything.
And she is angsting. Up until 3 pages ago she was all down in the dumps about everything and she still is. It seem fairly natural that if you were to have conflicting feelings about if you liked someone (note this doesn’t even have to be some kind of “alternative” style relationship like two men or two women just someone you never looked at that way before they confessed to you) than I imagine at some point you may create a fantasy where you two are together if only for a short time to test your feelings (and the shower/tub is about as likely a place to take a moment to take a break to reflect on it). The fantasy itself does appear a bit fanservicy and I doubt that it was unintentionally that way but I think it’s to a lesser extent than what some people want to claim and honestly it would have looked unnatural to me if she had taken the time to get dressed and then grabbed the pen as this is more of a spontaneous impulsive reaction.
Actually I was thinking the same thing. I was just writing it off as the grip being less hard than it looked. Though she doesn;’t quite look comfortable in panel 1 either.
I am of the opinion that it was both the image of rapeface Marilyn attacking and the actual physical pain of BL yanking at her bewb that snapped Heather back to reality.
Bottom Lefty.
All the ladies want her.
All the Gents want to be her.
Gonna be the break-out superstar of this strip, you mark my words.
Movie deals, miniseries, action figures…
The works.
(my mind just recoiled with horror at the thought of some folk would get up to with a scale model of Spinnerettes left hand. time to kill this comment.)
Glad I missed all the nerd rage. Um, hello? It’s a comic, and in real life people have conflicting emotions, if having that portrayed is too much for you, go read Marmaduke!
In my childhood PG-13 was a total of maybe 2 or 3 cuss words in the entire movie, some violence, and no nudity at all or maybe a glimpse of the person’s nude back without showing any part of their “bits” at all. Now things that originally were found only in rated R movies are becoming “acceptable” in lower ratings.
I have a theory. Having studied Paleontology, I know that certain prehistoric reptiles (stegosaurus comes to mind), are hypothesized to have had an enlarged nerve ganglion in the posterior spinal cord. Not really a “hind brain”, but able to speed reflex actions of the rear of the body. Since the stegosaurus’s main defence was its spiked tail, this would be a definite survival adaptation.
Now, we do not know what exactly happened to Heather’s nervous system as a result of her “change”; having a number of extra limbs from what she was born with, her spinal cord could conceivably have developed a similar structure to control reflex actions of her new appendages. Again, not really acting as independent entities, but her lower arms might well be acting on reflexes from unconscious impulses that her conscious brain is not acknowledging. I.E., repressed gay/bi tendencies. While her lower left hand may not be able to “think” on it’s own, its writing may well enable Heather to realize and face her own subconscious feelings for Marilyn.
Or, in other words, as a gay/bi woman, I can only say “go bottom lefty!”
Actually, I’d go farther up the evolutionary tree in search of Heather’s extra mutations. Since spiders have a different nervous system than vertebrates, their reactions are also quite different. Remember, spiders don’t have a brain like humans do – instead, they have a central group of neural ganglia which then extend with small nerves all over the body. This means that trauma concentrated in just one point of the spider’s body can’t shut off the whole nervous system. Now, I’m far from expecting Heather to completely changing the structure of her nervous system – but it’s quite possible that she developed some extra neural centres in her body, mostly responsible for reflexive reactions, and connected to her brain only by proxy, through the brain stem (which generally controls the higher reflexes – more automated stuff happens on the spinal cord level, which gives us a good idea how these hypothetical extra centres would work – they could basically be superdeveloped ganglia of the autonomous nervous system). Bonus points for this theory come from the fact that autonomous responses are not controlled by such higher brain functions as morals; they could theoretivally get suppressed this way, but it would require a lot of conditioning. In other words, Heather’s hypothetical extra neural centres would not be held back by her upbringing, naive nature or any sorts of outside pressure, acting on pure instinct and expressing things even she doesn’t know about herself.
…
Oh darn, I did it again, didn’t I? Please wait while I go slaughter some goats. We’re having goat stew tonight, and I have a feeling there will be plenty of the stuff for everyone. *drags out his biggest cauldron, wondering why it takes so long for his comments to pass moderation*
Im a physioterapist, and i call tell you from my knowledge of human anatomy, that there’s no suitable way that a extra limb, from the lumbar region or below can be able to connect nerves to an upper level.
In this example and following the logic parameters of nerve/limbs relations it must be from the cervical plexus (upper limbs) and below.
Watching at the draws of spinerette’s spine it should come from his toracical region, non connected to any known mechanism of reflexes, others that the normal ones in any person.
Anyway, it just can be a manifestation of her desires or inconscients feelings…
Eress, I almost became an MD, so I know perfectly well what you’re talking about. Actually, for a while I toyed with the idea of creating a chart which could represent Heather’s anatomical differences to a normal human organism.
Then I realised that I’d never be able to wash all that goat blood off the walls
I might come back to this idea once I find enough time and determination.
Clarification re Stegosaurus: (obtained via Google search)
>>Stegosaurus had a very tiny brain – it was only the size of a walnut. This is especially small, given that Stegosaurus was up to 26-30 feet (8-9 m) long! It used to be thought that Stegosaurus had a second brain (which it would seem to need given that the brain in its head was very, very tiny). Paleontologists now think that what they thought was a second brain was just an enlargement in the spinal cord in the hip area. This enlargement was larger than the animal’s tiny brain. There is debate about what this enlargement contained – fatty tissue or nerves. This sacral ganglion, larger than the animal’s tiny brain, may have contained both nerves and fatty tissue. This nerve center may have controlled the animal’s hind legs and tail. <<
I don’t read a gay/bi vibe from Heather, based on her enthusiasm for a date with this Darien guy, but it may be possible she just cares a lot for Mecha Maid. Kind of a “I’m not gay, I just love YOU” sort of thing.
Maybe not even love, just concern. Like, maybe she feels guilty for denying a dying person who is also a good friend and mentor a chance at love?
Isn’t it just possible, though, that it’s not really about gay/bi/straight (incidentally, I don’t really think that it’s about a “vibe” anyway, except in extreme cases), but about true love transcending gender? I know, this comic is essentially a comedy, but every once in a while it addresses real-life concerns. And you can’t really use Darien to set the bar. Sahira said only a few comics ago that Heather has always had a thing for pretty boys (suggesting that she thinks Darien is a pretty boy?), which is really only a step away from saying that she has a thing for girly men which, if you take it even further, might suggest that she’s attracted to the feminine. Maybe a part of Heather (Bottom Lefty?) knows how she really feels, and she’s just denying it, at least to herself, because she grew up in a society which has always told her “No, you can’t give in to this sort of urge, because it’s wrong.” (Mecha Maid doesn’t have the same problem; she knows what her own true nature is, but she still seems to be uncomfortable advertising it publicly).
I think we’re saying the same thing, just in different ways. Heather being attracted to Mecha Maid in a “I’m not gay, but I love you” sort of way would be a “love transcending gender”. I do think though that if she were attracted to women in general she wouldn’t be so eager and excited for a date with a guy.
Of course, I could be very wrong, and she IS just in the closet about being attracted to other women. Guess we’ll see what Bottom Lefty writes tomorrow. :d
New Idea: She has a “A Christmas Carol” style dream with a humanoid version of BL as her guide.

I know I shouldn’t but…you’re just making it too easy.
BL: Heather
Heather: huh wha? who are you?
BL: I am the spirit of your hand. I am the great BOTTOM LEFTY!

They eat males as well. And Heather is still a half-human hybrid. Your point is?

fourth wall broken.
You guys really wanna know what BL will write? Well, here goes, I have consulted the Great Mumphert and he said, BL will write: “I has 2 more weeks of fanservice.”
Wait, what? People RAGED over this strip? I laughed. It was amusing as hell.
…what’s wrong with people? Do they want to be all depressed all the time or something? Go read some crappy emo comics.
An excellent friend of hers, who is dying by inches, just confessed her love for her, a love she isn’t sure whether she reciprocates or not. The juxtaposition between this heartbreaking inner conflict and the goofy fanservice is confusing and possibly out of place in some peoples opinion.

Oh, I don’t see Spinerette going all emo, but considering the situation, some angst isn’t necessarily out of character.
And she is angsting. Up until 3 pages ago she was all down in the dumps about everything and she still is. Fair enough, though people can fantasize in other places than bathtubs with censor bubbles. ;-P
Fair enough.
I wonder if bottom-lefty is really acting out what she really wants….or if bottom lefty is just chanelling The Todd.
Either way it should be pretty funny.
Hah Scrubs reference. BL can’t be The Todd. The Todd was all talk and BL is all action.
*suish squish* XD
same here http://www.sgvy.com/archives/Edda1/Issue1/Page6.html
@ Ramification
True. This nerd-rage is ludicrous and pretty embarassing.
Yay! Bottom lefty is a main character now!
How much grip strength does she have? That doesn’t look too pleasant in panel 2.

BREASTS: THE CONSISTANCY OF PUDDING
lol bottom lefty might be my favorit character now
I think Bottom Lefty is secretly everybodies favorite character nyah! =^_^=
I’m not sure…Heather is in a lot of ways my favorite but I really always find myself rooting for Mecha Maid.
Bottom Lefty.

All the Gents want to be her.

I can actually see a scene going something like this.
MM: Ok. We’re dating now *internal yay* but we can’t let it affect our superheroing. We have to stay professional while on duty.
Spinnerette: Absolutely couldn’t agree more.
MM: Than why is your left hand still caressing me.
Spinnerette: Sorry it has a mind of its own and it knows what it wants.
Pharoah: (laughing maniacally)
MM: This time, we’re taking you down, Pharoa– Um, Spins?
Spinnerette: Huh? What? Ack! Bottom Lefty, no! (embarrassed, withdraws BL from MM’s backside)
Glad I missed all the nerd rage. Um, hello? It’s a comic, and in real life people have conflicting emotions, if having that portrayed is too much for you, go read Marmaduke!
But I like Marmaduke nyah! =^_^=
I thought you said you were keeping this comic and forum PG-13?
This does push the limits of what qualifies as PG-13.
Is PG-13, not showing nippies nyah! =^_^=

Screw it, who needs the 4th wall?
I need it nyah? Sometimes, maybe, little bit nyah? =^_^=
WHAT IS WITH YOU AND THE WORD NYAH!!!!!?????!!!!!
Blame it on Nyan Cat.
Sorry for the double post, but nya/nyan/nyah is Japanese for “Meow”, which fits with the cat-girl avatar. Does that answer your question?
Nya! I mean, ya.
I’ll be honest. I don’t like “Nya” but then again I don’t really like cats either.
Gasp! What would Bakaneko say?
Bewbs
Bakneko’s actually saying “Bewbs, nyah.” but the nyah part is so high in frequency we just couldn’t here it
It’s a pity you don’t like cats, wolf.spider; they’re nutricious and delicious, just like chicken. :p
I like the Nyah. I think it’s cute. =^.^= Nyah.

I don’t really see how being bi is incompatible with being excited about having a date with a guy as she would have feeling for both guys and girls.
