Bwa-ha-ha-ha! Good to see you’re still around, lurker o’l pal. Good to see you’re still enjoying the comic. It’s just that good you can’t stay away, eh?
Time travel won’t help Marilyn unless it is in a future time where medical technology could helper. (Won’t help if the near future is a wasteland from civil war an Global Warming.) I like the hybrid DNA splicing but that isn’t easy to do but it could cure her. But if the spider part of it is Heather strength an resilience then she would make an error not including it.
Sahira: Oh, did you hear see the news this morning? Bernie Madoff’s be found… or… at least what’s left of him… Seriously, they said they censored the worst of it, but I’ve seen zombies better looking than him. Who could have done such a thing? The guy may have been a villain, but not even Dr Universe deserves what happened to him…
Sahira: Uh… Heather, are… are you OK? You’re seriously creeping me out now… You came home past midnight and… Oh… oh my God, Heather! Is that blood on your costume?!
they’re supposed to. Though if you really want…3 doses is ok though it may result in tardiness, suspicion and overall drop in effective performance at work and/or loss of sleep.
Kind of yes and Kind of no. I was fine with it continuing in the background for a while longer but once it’s put on the plate like this I prefer fairly quick resolutions. I don’t wnat it drawn out for 500 pages.
I was talking about the comments section. There sure are a lot of people who don’t like Darien getting together with Heather around here. Hee-hee! And to think Darien’s character hasn’t even been developed and exposed that much yet.
You may have a point there. But what if this is Krow’s attempt at developing his character through a relationship with Heather? (shrugs). Then again he could really be just a minor character simply there to help develop the relationship between Heather and Marilyn.
Well, here’s the thing: it’s becoming a cliche in webcomics that all of the female leads are interested in the other female lead. If Heather suddenly goes for MM after such a brief analysis of her sexuality (which is to say, no analysis other than a single comment on a single page), then I am going to call “male fantasy”. Because frankly, I have yet to see a webcomic tackle this issue and have the lead say “y’know what? I’m NOT gay after all. Not that there’s anything wrong with being gay.” It’s not that I have anything against homosexuality. You won’t find many greater champions of “different strokes for different folks” than me. What I have an issue with is people being disingenuous. And far too many artists and writers on the Internet are phoning this issue in to satisfy the base desires of the audience… or their own.
However, maybe I’m jumping the gun. Maybe Krazy Krow has no intention of doing that and he’s going to have Spinnerette tell Mecha Maid, properly, and maturely, that she loves her like a friend, even as a sister, but a life without men is not for her. Or, maybe there’s another answer here I haven’t considered. But, I just can’t get my hopes up that this story will break the mold and be different. If nothing else, I daren’t get my hopes up because they’ve been dashed before far too many times with other series.
The important thing to remember is that so far, Heather has been overtly interested in boys. And “being oblivious” =/= “repressing”. If this is the route he wants to go, then frankly, I need a much better setup and a lot more “personal struggles” to come to terms with this reality or not. Otherwise, it’s a sham. I’m sorry. But that’s my legitimate opinion. Sadly, I’m sure many won’t like it.
@MaciaPaladin: If I remember correctly, they did that “You know what? I’m not gay after all.” thing in Menage a 3. One of the main characters thought she was bisexual or even gay and tried to seduce her friend but it turned she was heterosexual all along.
@wrong wolf: a very RARE exception. Ma3 is also drawn and co-written by a girl… so IF she resorts to male fantasy, it’s pure pandering. The majority of these stories I am critical of are written by men.
It’s a mixture of things. First panel, I think she’s realizing the regret she would have felt if MM had died. Same with the second panel except adding in more realization towards how fragile MM actually is. Third panel I would say is more guilt over what she did than regret. maybe a bit of a fine line there. You can’t show everything that you want to convey though I would agree that I wish that he would show at least one scene of Heather and Marilyn happy together to demonstrate a more rounded range of emotions towards Marilyn however it would have been unrealistic in this context to throw in a random moment of happiness into those memories.
Y’know, I’m pretty sure that Ultimate Peter Parker’s death is the setup, or will be retconned into being the setup, for an Ultimate adaptation of The Other, and that Miles Morales will become the Ultimate Universe’s equivalent of the Scarlet Spider when Peter comes back with better powers. Critics will scream a**pull and call BS of course, but at least there’s a precedent in the mainstream comic.
Am I the only one who feels like Heather choosing Marilyn is solely guilt-driven? I never got the vibe that she shared the romantic interest. Up until the confession at the hospital, they just seemed like buddies.
I dunno, I’m just not buying it here…it really seems like Heather just feels guilty about the tragic situation and is trying to force herself to return Marilyn’s feelings just to make her final moments happy.
You’re not the only one. At this point though. Wait and see. There may be more details revealed or it could go in a direction you don’t really expect. It does seem a bit guilt driven however I think there were some small hints since before Marilyn’s confession that they may be more than buddies (obviously on MM’s end less so on Spins end) and I may juast be being optimistic but I think right now we’re only see some of Heather’s reasoning.
No, I don’t think so. Bottom-lefty has been giving subtle hints for a long while about Heather and Marilyn’s unspoken affection. They set off more than one person’s gay-dar.
Not to sound like a monster or anything but… Don’t cop-out and save Mecha-Maid, Krow: It’ll make for better story telling. Batman got better when they had the balls to kill Robin/Jason Todd.
You’re comparing killing mechamaid with killing robin, which really isn’t fair. Spins and MM are more on a batman – superman peer level, or maybe batman – green lantern seeing as spins is the main character. Batman and robin were mentor and student, which is totally different, unless you count MM as being spins mentor, which she was.
So by the let’s kill robin logic, does that mean that Spinnerette would get better if Spins died?
I wouldn’t say they “had the balls” to kill off Jason Todd. A lot of fans didn’t like him, which is why DC let readers decide whether or not he’d survive his encounter with the Joker (I believe it was a close race, though).
And I don’t know about “got better”. Sure, he didn’t dwell on it too often, but it stood as his greatest failure, hanging over his head, for quite some time.
People seem to think that death makes a comic better. I don’t think it’s necessarily true. There are a lot of interesting plot points and character development that can happen regardless of whether MM dies or not and a lot of interesting plot points that can only happen with MM surviving at least a while longer.
Green Goblin: I killed Gwen Stacy! Lulz
Spider-Man: I’LL ****ING KILL YOU!
Kingpin: I hired the assassin that shot your aunt, chump.
Spider-Man: I’LL ****ING KILL YOU!
Wolverine: Your wife is a whore.
Spider-Man: I’LL ****ING KILL YOU!
Ulquiorra: I killed your boyfriend.
Orihime: Waaaaaaah! Kurosaki-kun! Waaaaaaaah!
Hollow Ichigo: ROAR!
Ulquiorra: You’re dead. I put a hole through where your Hakusui is. *gets Cero’d* Curse you, Kubo-sama… er, Aizen-sama! *breaks Ichigo’s mask*
Ichigo: *chest heals* I’m back. Curse you, Hollow, you’re always stealing the badass scenes!
Ulquiorra: HAX! *dies*
Cesium, I’m curious why Green Lantern? Superman Batman was far more accurate, especially since Green Lantern was a major focus of almost everything DC until the F*CKING NEW 52. Batman was more likely to guest in GE than the other way around.
It was Uryu who broke Ichigo’s mask, actually. And Ichigo was healed by Orihime, and not so much healed as ‘literally had his death completely negated’, as Orihime’s power is basically to give a big, throbbing F-you! to any event she can put a shield around or through (it’s a little more complicated than that, but that’s the basic gist.). Also, Ichigo wanted Orihime to do the same to Ulquiorra so he could fight him on fair terms, despite not having been able to do a thing to Ulquiorra until going Vasto Lorde on him.
What happened was Ulquiorra cut off one of Hollow Ichigo’s horns while he was charging a Cero and that’s what destroyed the mask. Uuryu was busy being impaled on Zangetsu. <3 Orihime didn't heal Ichigo: his Hollow reiatsu rebounded on the wound and regenerated it. He didn't ask Orihime to heal Ulquiorra so much as he asked Ulquiorra to amputate an arm and a leg to make them even, but Ulquiorra crumbled before he could oblige.
Spins may love Mecha Maid, I just do not see the romantic angle. People can get all worked up like Heather is over family or a close friend. But between her flighty nature, commitment to genres, and Marilyn’s ALS getting worse, Spinnerette’s emotions are getting the best of her (‘course, maybe that’s what she’s leaving to tell MM, that she loves her like a sister/friend…after all, she can see Darien any time…Mecha Maid, not so much). I could also see Spinny say “I love you,” to which Marilyn replies, “no, you don’t. You just want to make me feel better.”
But hey…I could be wrong. Not like I’m writing this thing…
Someone mentioned earlier using the machine that endowed Heather with her powers to heal/cure/Mecha Maid’s condition. That would be an interesting twist. But the cover insists otherwise. BUT, perhaps combine it with the time-traveling theory also mentioned (though, I figured that Franklin’s power was invulnerability, not actual time travel), and we have a whole NEW scenario down the line.
YES YES YES GO!!!!
And cue the music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK6TXMsvgQg
Bwa-ha-ha-ha! Good to see you’re still around, lurker o’l pal. Good to see you’re still enjoying the comic. It’s just that good you can’t stay away, eh?
Aw, poor Darien.
Well shit, she’s probably dead
I know, right? Every time I see Lurker post it’s like a happy reminder that Spinnerette is enjoyable enough that even the critics can’t stay away
Hee-hee! Lurker is Spinnerette’s biggest fan. (cue Stephen King’s Misery)
oddly enough, i have mixed feelings on this decision.
Worst ending ever.
MM gets crushed by pyramid.
Marilyn: Goodbye Heather *cough* I….love…you…
Heather: And I think I may have come to love you with time as well.
Marilyn: What? That’s your…*cough* last words as I…*cough* die? You’re a horrible…*cough* person *dies.*
Heather: Marilyn? no please don’t go Marilyn.
*next day*
Sahira: Hey heather they just came out with a cure for ALS now you can get your friend cured.
Heather: *eye twitches* Marilyn… hahahaha…
Sahira: Oh, did you hear see the news this morning? Bernie Madoff’s be found… or… at least what’s left of him… Seriously, they said they censored the worst of it, but I’ve seen zombies better looking than him. Who could have done such a thing? The guy may have been a villain, but not even Dr Universe deserves what happened to him…
Heather: Ah… Hahahahahahaha! Kyahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Sahira: Uh… Heather, are… are you OK? You’re seriously creeping me out now… You came home past midnight and… Oh… oh my God, Heather! Is that blood on your costume?!
Ah, looks like Spinny has the Girl-fever…
Yellow fever at that!
Prescription. take two doses of Marilyn daily and call her in the evening.
What if symptoms persist, Dr. Wolf.Spider?
they’re supposed to. Though if you really want…3 doses is ok though it may result in tardiness, suspicion and overall drop in effective performance at work and/or loss of sleep.
am i the only one that wants spin to NOT be in love with MM? Atlest not right now, seems ot be a bit fast
Kind of yes and Kind of no. I was fine with it continuing in the background for a while longer but once it’s put on the plate like this I prefer fairly quick resolutions. I don’t wnat it drawn out for 500 pages.
I’m fine either way. But I have a soft spot for the underdog so I find myself rooting for Darien a little bit. Just a little bit.
Hey MM was the underdog coming into this chapter.
I was talking about the comments section. There sure are a lot of people who don’t like Darien getting together with Heather around here. Hee-hee! And to think Darien’s character hasn’t even been developed and exposed that much yet.
I think the fact he hasn’t been developed is part of the reason some people don’t like him.
You may have a point there. But what if this is Krow’s attempt at developing his character through a relationship with Heather? (shrugs). Then again he could really be just a minor character simply there to help develop the relationship between Heather and Marilyn.
if spin and mm get together
its more likely mm will die just to make it sadder

To be fair, she’s been angsting about this for a couple of weeks. We just haven’t been shown it.
@MaciaPaladin: If I remember correctly, they did that “You know what? I’m not gay after all.” thing in Menage a 3. One of the main characters thought she was bisexual or even gay and tried to seduce her friend but it turned she was heterosexual all along.

Okaayyy…. so if men do it, it’s wrong or iffy or tiring, but if women do it, it’s okay? o_O
YES! A hundred times yes! I hope to god Mecha Maid doesn’t die now, they’re just so cute together!
MM anger face in third panel, its tell everything
what heather feels (unfortunately) is not real love…its more like pity.
i want it to be real love!
i was thinking the same… it’s the regret working on her!
It’s a mixture of things. First panel, I think she’s realizing the regret she would have felt if MM had died. Same with the second panel except adding in more realization towards how fragile MM actually is. Third panel I would say is more guilt over what she did than regret. maybe a bit of a fine line there. There’s basically no way Mecha Maid is getting out of this alive at this point.
To be honest, in a comic…there’s pretty much almost always a way until the person actually dies…
And even afterwards. All Spinny has to do is pull an Orpheus and not make the same mistake he did.
@wolf.spider
When has dying ever stopped a comic book character?
When the creators are too lazy to bring that person back to life.
As long as they don’t go stupid and call him “the Black Spider”… you know, ‘cuz his “costume is black”. :eyeroll:
How about “the Sable Spider”? LOL
@wrong wolf and Songbird. I have this package for you, says here I am to deliver one interwebs… if you can just sign here.
Am I the only one who feels like Heather choosing Marilyn is solely guilt-driven? I never got the vibe that she shared the romantic interest. Up until the confession at the hospital, they just seemed like buddies.

Am i the only one who thinks she is going to ask Ben Franklin to send her back in time to the hosptital?
Or forward, to a time where even extremely advanced stages of ALS are easily curable…?
Ben Franklin=/=willful time traveler.
I’m still kind of thinking that the butterfly is Heather’s conflicting emotions…
