on August 1, 2012Back in one piece! Otakon was great fun, it’s the biggest con we go to. Devil’s Panties and Draconia Chronicles made great neighbors.
I’m glad I had the chance to say hi to Mookie from Dominic Deegan and Alan from Rival Angels. I might have to convince Otakon to put a webcomics area together next year, and do a panel or two.
Mr. Webby was a big hit, look for the kickstarter soon!
I’ll be at Wizard World Chicago August 9th to 12th, Spinnerette’s last con of the year.
Uh oh. What does Dr. U mean by going critical? Gah please no man-spider.
Well aside from wall crawling and some spinnerets arms seem to be the biggest mutation. She never developed extra eyes or little mandibles, so hopefully it’s just magnifying those changes that have already been made…. although having multiple spinneret glands could be even more bothersome then extra arms.
Hmm it is true that we haven’t see if it’s affected her spinner glands.
Actually looking closer at the first panel. It looks like Spins new arms automatically went to the web to hold on.
Hmm, critical mass? Spider-Man? To be honest, my first thought too. As horrid as it may be, im pretty curious how Heather would look like and how the rest of the gang will react (specialy Marylin).
so… it’s just a matter of time before she transforms into a big huge spider, then she dies, and reborns again as a normal human being with two sets of arms??

People keep begging “please no man-spider”, but you’re all missing a major point: Spinny’s a chick XD
But surely if she did go woman-spider, she’d be a lot like Alexis and ultimately too similar? They’ve already kinda done the woman-spider thing with the dryder storyline…Unless of course the intention is to bring her back into the story by having her team up with Spinny as an unexpected ally…she would be pretty much the only one who understood Spinny’s situation – or was the Spiderman man-spider just a mindless killing machine? Apologies, I didn’t follow the comics.

It would certainly be interesting…not so sure I’d like it either, but it would certainly make for a good storyline…yet something tell’s me Krow won’t go that route…
It’s a good thing people don’t have fingerprints in comics or Dr Uni could find out who she was in ten minutes or less.
her pose in panel 1 is distinctive to a particular species of spider but I cant put my finger on it
Critical mass actually make it sound like she’s about to blow.
Yeah, my first thought was, “She’s going to blow up?! o.o” And then I realized that that’s… probably not going to happen.
I’d personally like to see her develop some more mutations – extra eyes, etc. But, truth be told, I’m not exactly sure what “going critical” exactly means here… I hope Spinny will be alright. :<
*Heather grows extra eyes*
Heather: huh what’s going on? *Legs and arms become spider like* umm this Is New. *expanding*
Dr. U: she’s about to blow. Greta we need to get out of here!

Heather: Marilyn…you’re generating electricity.

Heather: actually I thought you seemed more like Static Shock.

The “Man-Spider” arc was from the 1990′s TV show, where Peter grew 6 arms (in reference to the comic’s 6-arms saga) and then mutated into an anthropomorphic spider. It also happened three times in the comics (I cant remember when or where the first time happened) but the second time happened when he was infected with the Spider-Virus by a villainess called the Queen and turned into a giant spider before moulting/”giving birth” to his human form with organic webbing. Peter’s inner spider took over again during the other arc when he was killed by the pseudo-vampire Morlun, and he was reborn (again) with increased strength and venomous stingers in his wrists.

That must be one epic Tango De Spider….. But I assume…. As Heather may be a ‘Brown’ Spider I’d assume eating her mate doesn’t change matters….

Since mating seems to be involved, and being both females means no fertilization of any eggs [unless Marilyn is secretly a Futanari?] the concept of eating after mating is totally invalid…

The time before that was the last mass extinction. Every time it’s mentioned I black out and something terrible happens.

I did some research. (May Azathoth spare Wikipedia) The first Man-Spider transformation in the comics was in Marvel Fanfare vol. 1 #1-2, when Peter’s inner spider was woken up by the Savage Land Mutates and he turned into a predatory spider-monster. He’s also been transformed into it in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Vol. 1 #9, where he defeated the Avengers and several X-Men, in addition to Avengers Disassembled (The Queen arc) and The Other, which I mentioned above. Also, his clone Kaine was temporarily transformed into the nearly-identical Tarantula by the Queen in the recent Spider-Island arc.
It should be “You don’t know what a C-K Reactor truly is.” in panel 4.
Prediction: Dr. U knows what is Spinny’s problem, knows it’s serious and can use the machine – with the CK reactor – to solve it. IF the heroes let him have the reactor.
On that note, there is even a chance that the hit with the raygun wasn’t even what triggered this in the first place.

I was going to suggest that in zero gravity, who’s on top is a moot point but…I’m trying to work out the mechanics of it and I don’t think it would work…unless there was some clever manipulation by the mistress of gravity ;D

Hello there i just wanted to say that i love this comic , though i just started reading it july 30 2012 , but i strated at the begining and stayed up late to read it all that night lol. I love all the character’s concepts , but i think my favorites so far are the main Heather brown & Dr. Univerese. I’m curious as to if you went to college for comic’s or just draw create them at home for fun?
The phrase “Is she going critical?” sounds like it’s happened before to one of Dr. U’s test subjects. The question is…did the test subject survive? Dr. U doesn’t look worried, just scientifically interested.
In Panel 4 the Doctor is using his eyewear to confirm Tiger is lying – a lie detector, or can he see the reactor?
And where is Spinny going? Is this part of their game plan?
something tells me that the c-k reactor would go out with a huge boom if someone destroyed it.
Well, to reference the most recent Spidey movie (whether you liked it or not) maybe the foreign DNA began to dominate the host, if the subject was a similar sort of experiment – after all, if Dr U. funded the ray, he must be aware of its capabilities, and even if he’s not, he’ll have probably studied Spinny’s powers to know that they must be caused by the introduction of spider DNA into her own – there’s nothing synthetic or C-K about her powers (at first).
I think in Panel 4 he may just be adjusting his eyewear dramatically : P unless he has a built-in C-K sensor or something, like night-vision or infra-red.
And I think Spinny’s trying to gain a vantage point…over a woman who can control gravity *facepalm* XP or it may just be she swung out of the way and is now crawling up out of harm’s way, and noticed how handy her new limbs are : P
Personally I liked the new spiderman movie but I’m still not sure why it needed to be revamped so quickly.
there was a disagreement between Sony and the scriptwriter maybe the director of the last tree spider man films over the villain so Sony decide to scrap that script and use one the had already written up
Ironically Sam Rami wanted to use the Lizard for the fourth movie but was told not to use so monstrous a villain after Venom, so he changed it to the Vulture and Felicia Hardy – not as the Black Cat but a female ripoff of the Vulture – and when that was vetoed he quit.
